Happy Garden Blogger Bloom Day! Things are happening so fast in the garden right now, it’s nice to have an excuse to stop and look – then shoot and share.
Above you’re looking across a bed of sedum-as-lawn-replacement, with cute little muscari popping up through the sedum (S. sarmentosum). In the background are three Spirea ‘Ogons’ in fading bloom – they’re extremely early.
And here’s another plant that’s performing extremely well in my garden – in varying amounts of shade/morning sun, and making very useful babies.

Thats a lot of sedum! How is it for weed control?
I’m so going for the sedum as {almost} lawn….love my sedums and hate my weeds!
I have that exact same sedum Susan, and it also loves my garden. It trails down my walls and such. I love ‘Ogon’ spirea. One of the best plants ever. Mine bloomed last month, and now we’re into full yellow. Happy Bloom Day.~~Dee
Greggo, this particular sedum fills in completely and very quickly, so that new weeds dropped from above can’t reach the soil – victory!
I introduced lungwart to the garden last spring & i love the beautiful colors it gives to the garden….yours are so pretty & i see you have sunshine…xoxo, tracie
Tracie, this spot gets morning sun only. S
Happy Bloom Day!!! Those are gorgeous. I’m loving my sedum too.
I’m helping to spread the word right now about the Seed Fund to all my fellow gardeners in lieu of earth month! Anyway… Yes to Carrots and Whole Foods are teaming up with something called the Yes to Seed Fund. They’re giving away grants to help schools build gardens! Pretty awesome!
Hi, Susan. What gorgeous shots of your garden! Mine had 2 inches of snow last night and more on the way… thanks for sharing so I can dream! -Evelyn
You’re seeing what we in Ontario will be seeing in a few weeks. I’m amazed. You’re not that far south. Lovely pics that make me sigh in want.
